Sunshine ☀️ Spain Set for Hen Party Invasion in 2025
In 2025, 25% of hens are expected to say goodbye to the when-will-it-stop-raining British weather and a big ‘hola’ to sunny Spanish destinations.
Benidorm, Barcelona, Marbella and Ibiza all feature in our 10 most popular European hen destinations for 2025 as hens look overseas for the bride’s big celebration.
“You can’t blame hens for ditching the UK in search of sun,” said Emily Morris, one of GoHen’s Spanish hen experts.
“Benidorm is popular thanks to its affordability and big party atmosphere, Marbella and Ibiza are both bucket list destinations that cost a bit more – but they’re totally worth it – whilst Barcelona and Valencia are the perfect mix of big-city and coastal resorts.”
Good Times 🥂 Bath, Bristol & Liverpool Top the UK Hen Charts
OK, we *might* be biased because the GoHen Head Office is based in the centre of the city, but a Bath hen do has been, and will always be, the perfect place for a pre-wedding send-off.
The spa, the sights, the bars, the beautiful scenery – “Hello, Perfect Hen Setting!”
The biggest and best partiers are still heading to Liverpool for a hen do, whilst a Bristol hen weekend offers the perfect mix of boho vibes and big nights on the town.
“Bath is still officially the number one hen destination on the planet and it’s easy to see why,” said Steph Hazell, GoHen’s Bath Event Manager.
“It’s classy but not too pretentious; it’s packed with amazing bars, but you won’t have to walk miles to get to each one; plus, it has spas, restaurants and clubs galore.”
UK vs. Europe

- 2023: UK 70% / 30% Europe

“When you’ve got the guaranteed sun of Spain making eyes at you, it’s hard to turn it down,” said Ellie Silk, Head of Events at GoHen.
“The UK weather the last few years has been awful, so it’s no surprise that a third of hens are looking at Spain and Portugal for their big bridal send-offs.”

“The last thing people want to chat about is the budget, but you need to get a ballpark figure off the bride for what the rest of the group can afford, otherwise you’ll get dropouts left, right and centre,” said Ellie Silk.
“Always prioritise the experiences over things like outfits and décor as this is what people will remember in years to come.”

“The average group size of hen parties has stayed pretty much the same for the last 10 years,” said Ellie Silk.
“When you’re getting your initial guest list together, bear in mind that about 3 people will drop out.
“Don’t fret if the bride has given you a very very long list, either!
“We arranged a hen do for 42 people heading to Newcastle this year and we sent 29 hens on a plane to Dublin for a big Irish celebration, so will be more than happy to help if you need us.”

“The things we’ve noticed in 2025 is the rise in hens looking for spa passes and pampering days. After months of stressful wedding planning, we find a lot of hens are looking for a zen do rather than a boozy hen do.”

“Almost 50% of hen weekends this year happened in April, May and June,” said Jon Stainer, Creative Director at GoHen.com.
“This is always peak hen party period as it gives the hens enough time to recover for the summer wedding season.
“Getting in before the schools break up also means they miss out on all the mad price rises of flights and accommodation abroad.”
Who Plans the Weekend?
2024
- Maid of Honour – 40%
- Bridesmaid – 25%
- Bride – 16%
- Head Organiser – 12%
- Other – 7%
The Maid of Honour remains the go-to hen party planner, but brides are getting more and more involved in the planning as are mothers of the bride.
“We mostly deal with Maid of Honours, but quite a few of the group usually get involved in the planning,” said Ellie Silk.
“We’d always advise to collaborate with the bride when it comes to the guestlist and getting a rough idea of what she wants to do. However, we do warn people off getting too many of the group involved in the planning as it can get messy.”
Hens Plan Sooner than Stags (Shock!)
How Far in Advance Do People Plan – Hens vs. Stags
- How Far in Advance Do Hens Book – 173 Days (6 Months)
- How Far in Advance Do Stags Book – 143 Days (5 Months)
“Hens tend to book their weekends before the stags have even started planning theirs,” said Jamie Birleson, Head of Sales.
“And that’s good news for them because it means they get the pick of the hotels, houses, activities and accommodation in each destination before the stags have even looked.
“If I had any advice for hens booking for 2025, I’d recommend booking sooner than 6 months to beat everyone else to the best options.”
