Cumbrian based Weddings By Annabel are very much in demand and are now the go to coordinators for a number of venues in the region. Annabel Candler has created a team of dedicated wedding planners to suit every faith and style of wedding day.

What’s the craziest thing you’ve ever seen at a wedding?

I have recently witnessed a silent disco as part of the evening entertainment and think it could be a new craze. It went down very well, even with the older relatives! A bad crazy thing was witnessing then helping with a heart attack at a clients wedding! The Great Aunt collapsed but we happen to have great helpers and then she was taken to A&E immediately. She survived and the couple didn’t even know anything had happened until the Monday after the wedding thanks to clever wedding planner assistance!

Have you got any handy tips for bridesmaids?

The most important thing I say to clients about their maids or ushers is to pick carefully as those people will make the ‘wedding team’. They directly affect not only the big day but the planning too. Collectively they should have the following attributes… empathy, humour, calm nature & problem solving skills. They should be there to be a good friend but also flex to what the Brides needs and offer help.

What is your top tip for someone planning their wedding?

Walk it through. Quite simply, imagine you are a guest and go through what they are seeing, when they are eating etc. You can then see if they will get hungry or can’t find the loos! Seeing it from a different perspective shouldn’t mean that you have to tailor the wedding too much, remember it’s your day, but it might iron out some potential on the day issues.
