Planning a wedding can be a worrying and at times fraught task, wedding site The Knot’s Real Wedding Survey revealed that “50% [of brides] found that planning their wedding was more stressful than they expected”. For some nearly-weds the best stress relief can come in the form of expert help from a wedding planner.
GoHen asked some of the UK’s best wedding planners for a few top wedding planning tips to help keep things under control for your big day.
Isabella Weddings have been creating bespoke events in the South of England since 2003, during that time they have trained a group of hand picked wedding planners to help cater for every type of Big Day.
What’s the most innovative idea you’ve seen at a wedding?
A wedding couple we helped a few years ago wanted to provide lots of cheap drinks for their guests, so they brought lots from cash and carry and charged their guests a small amount per drink. The guests got cheap drinks all evening and the couple made nearly all their wedding budget back in sales!
What’s the best themed wedding you’ve ever been involved with?
A festival themed wedding (it’s a popular theme this year and last) where the couple hired festi-flags, giant teacup rides, a fire pit with smores, lots of music and wristbands, lanyards and ponchos. My advice – if you’re going to do a theme do it well! It was an awesome day and one of my favourites.
What is your top tip for someone planning their wedding?
Apart from hiring a planner 😉 I’d always advise my couples to do your research before committing to anything, always hire a professional if the service means a lot to you and manage your budget by allocating sections to various parts of the day and be strict, keep receipts, that way you won’t overspend because you’ve forgotten to write something down.
