Your guide to hen nights in Belfast
Bars and Pubs
Many of the best bars and pubs in Belfast are concentrated around Great Victoria Street, Shaftesbury Square and Bradbury Place, and an area which locals call the 'Golden Mile'. At the weekends, these streets are buzzing with life and are always packed - you really are guaranteed a great time here and will find a venue to suit everyone. Perfect for a few drinks before hitting the clubs. Another great spot to wander to is 'The Entries', a nickname for the narrow alleyways around Anne Street in the Cathedral Quarter, and is home to some of the country's oldest saloon bars and gin venues. If you're looking for an authentic taste of Ireland, head to the docks and check out the friendly traditional Irish pubs. For some yummy cocktails and a young trendy crowd, the Queen's Quarter is a good spot - expect affordable student drinks prices and great new music.
Best Bits in Belfast
Although it's no secret that the Irish have somewhat of a reputation for enjoying a drink or two, Belfast has plenty to offer when the sun goes down outside of the pubs and clubs. Check out the Albert Memorial Clock Tower by night - somewhat hilariously, it leans noticeably to one side just like Pisa's more famous landmark. The beautiful Italianate Custom House, St. Anne's Cathedral and City Hall are all worth a look too. The Odyssey Complex is great for evening entertainment too. Just a 5-minute walk from the city centre, it's home to 10,000 seat sports arena, a huge cinema with IMAX and plenty of restaurants, cafes and bars.
Getting Around Belfast
The city centre of Belfast is small and compact, so it's likely that you'll easily be able to get where you need to be on foot. However, if you have a little further to travel or want to save some time, hop on a frequent Metro bus which runs in and out of the centre between 6am and 11pm. Public transport does not run at night, so if you need transport after clubs close, taxis are your only option - luckily, they're widely available and inexpensive. Consider booking ahead on busy Friday and Saturday nights to avoid getting chilly and waiting outside. You can even book one of the city's unique shared taxis, where every journey is just £1! Ideally, our Belfast accommodation options are located very close to all of the city's best attractions, so you'll be able to tumble from club to bed in a flash.
Boogie Down in Belfast
Clubbing on your Belfast hen night is truly brilliant, and so it's hardly surprising that there's such a wide range of options available to suit everyone. Capture that fun holiday vibe even if it's -3 outside in Belfast's own answer to a traditional Ibiza party experience in a bizarrely brilliant beach-themed club which offers a ton of great drinks deals and themed nights or hit up a club which is dedicated to playing nothing but cheese - what could be more perfect for your hen party!? Expect to find stylish clubs which play fresh, new music too, home to fancy drinks, but also an older, more cosmopolitan crowd who bring with them a more laid back and relaxed atmosphere. Belfast caters to more hardcore clubbers too, with various venues offering pumping classic club tunes, R&B beats and a young, loud, party-loving crowd. There are around 9 major clubs in Belfast and many smaller venues besides, so you're sure to find a lively party destination to please everyone in your group.
Belfast Bevvies
With such a buzzing nightlife scene, it's hardly surprising that the variety of watering holes in Belfast is absolutely massive! Perfect for any Belfast hen weekend! Lavery's at Bradbury Place is a real favourite for visitors and locals and offers 4 bars, a beer garden and a terrace. They offer free entertainment every night and delicious food available all afternoon. Ideal for a cheeky pint of classic Irish Guinness and a pit stop snack before heading out on the town. At Victoria Square or overlooking the water at cosmopolitan Donegal Square West, find slick and stylish cocktail bars and live the high life with your favourite girls. Lavish baroque-style Café Vaudeville on Arthur Street is well worth a mention - it's a fantastic place to sip a delicious mojito in a fabulously OTT and opulent setting. The steaks and burgers are legendary and you can even try and have a peep in on the 'Bolli bar' upstairs, which serves only champagne to exclusive ticket-holding VIPs. Ooh la la!
Belfast Bites
Just like most UK cities, Belfast offers food from around the world in many independent and chain restaurants, so you'll be able to keep everyone happy. Enjoy Indian, Italian and tasty Mexican in various establishments all around the easily navigated city centre, or step over to the Odyssey Pavilion complex where you'll find plenty of recognisable spots to grab a bite to eat. Belfast still has plenty of character when it comes to dining, however, with a great range of affordable traditional British sandwich shops and cafes to pick up a bacon butty or a famous hangover-busting (and heart attack inducing) 'Ulster fry' fry up. Be sure to try out some classic Irish cuisine too like soda bread, stew, champ and some of the best fish and chips in the whole of the UK. Luckily, natives are proud of their local delicacies and so all of these tasty treats are widely available and well worth a try. The Cathedral Quarter, Queens Square and May Street are all well populated by quality eateries. When you book your Belfast hen night with GoHen, you can pre-arrange great dining options with great value set meals in various popular local restaurants.
